THE REQUEST

Next to vast cacao fields in a green landscape of tropical forests, a fifteen apartment complex was built, named “Babylon Gardens”, located in the residential area of Tesano district. On the top floor, there is a luxury penthouse from where you may see stunning sunset. The apartment building is provided with an outdoor swimming pool, a comfortable backyard ideal for happy hours and barbecues, and a private car parking.

The customer chose the DAB distributor Nesstra Ghana Ltd. to design the proper solution and the water system for different needs. One group of 2 K 66/100T with E.BOX Plus – D (the electronic control panel with display) was installed to provide pressure to all the apartments. Two pumps are working in parallel in order to increase the available water flow. The control box manages the operation of the pumps, alternating their function. Often in Africa there is no potable water for domestic use, so it’s a common practice to place pumps in cast-iron. To ensure the working operation of the booster system, water stocks tanks were set.

Moreover, for the external swimming pool, Nesstra installed Euroswim 300 M. Because of the higher hydraulic efficiency, Euroswim is very silent (only 65 Db) and can operate continuously even in domestic environment. Last but not least, Nova Up 600 MA was installed at the basement of the elevator: during raining season, flood of grey water can occur, so it’s necessary to drain it out.

Babylon Gardens è un complesso residenziale di 15 appartamenti, situato nell’area di Tesano, quartiere residenziale della capitale e circondato dal verde degli arbusti tropicali. Dalla terrazza del quinto piano, nel lussuoso attico del Babylon, si possono ammirare splendidi tramonti. All’esterno del residence si trovano una piscina, un giardinetto attrezzato per aperitivi e barbecue, una palestra e infine un parcheggio privato.

Il cliente ha scelto il distributore DAB Nesstra Ghana Ltd. per progettare una soluzione e un impianto idrico per bisogni differenti. Un gruppo di 2 K 66/100T con E.BOX Plus –D (il pannello di controllo con display) è stato installato per fornire pressione in tutti gli appartamenti. Due pompe funzionano in parallelo per aumentare il flusso d’acqua. ll quadro controlla il funzionamento delle pompe, che si alternano tra loro. Spesso in Africa non c’è acqua potabile per uso domestico, per questo è una prassi comune utilizzare pompe in ghisa. Per assicurare che il sistema di pressurizzazione funzioni correttamente sono stati installati serbatoi di acqua.

Inoltre, per la piscina esterna, Nesstra ha installato Euroswim 300 M nel sottoscala dell’edificio interno. Grazie all’elevata efficienza idraulica, Euroswim è molto silenziosa (solo 65 Db) e può operare costantemente anche in ambienti domestici. Infine, Nova 600 è stata installata in fondo nel basamento dell’ascensore: durante la stagione delle piogge, si possono verificare flussi di acqua grigia che allagano il vano tecnico, dunque è necessario scaricarlo con una pompa compatta, automatica ed affidabile.

Ottery suburb is a residential area well known to be serviced by transport providers and full small businesses, shops and commercial complexes, including the Pick n Pay Distribution Centre. Pick n Pay is a south African supply chain that operates in retail sector. In the distribution centre, they collect any kind of good (from clothes and perfumes to food and beverage, etc). In this warehouse, it is important to control and cool down the temperature to guarantee the proper conditions for the many kinds of goods. The cooling process is obtained by a complex system of air ducts and fan coils connected to a big cooling tower outside. The client chose DAB E.sytwin to pressurize the water from cooling towers to the system. E.sytwin was the perfect solution for being a smart pump able to deal with variable load maintaining constant pressure (necessary for an efficient temperature exchange). If connected to E.sylink, E.sybox is also able to communicate with other devices and the main PLC (Programmable Logic Controller). This feature was particularly important in this application where a series of complex parameters need to be controlled by the BMS (Building Management System). E.sybox communicates wireless to E.sylink, and this makes these products so special!

Il Pic n Pay è una catena di distribuzione sudafricana operante nel settore di vendita al dettaglio (dall’abbigliamento fino al settore alimentare e delle bevande ect.) Nello stabilimento principale, che funge da magazzino centralizzato per la distribuzione nella regione circostante, è importante controllare e raffrescare la temperatura per garantire la conservazione dei beni di consumo. Il processo di raffrescamento si realizza attraverso un sistema di condotte d’aria e fan coil che sono collegati con una grande torre di raffreddamento esterna. Il cliente ha scelto DAB E.sytwin per pressurizzare l’acqua dalla torre di raffreddamento lungo il sistema di tubazioni e batterie. E.sytwin si conferma la scelta migliore in quanto mantiene la pressione costante anche con carichi variabili, garantendo un controllo di temperatura superiore. Se connesso ad E.sylink, E.sybox è capace di comunicare con altri dispositivi e con il PLC (Programmable Logic Controller): questa caratteristica è molto importante per questa installazione, in quanto tutti i parametri di funzionamento vengono monitorati tramite BMS (Building Management System). E.sybox comunica con E.sylink via wireless, questa peculiarità rende E.syline una famiglia di prodotti unica nel suo genere!

The distinctive and unique features of the landscape in Cape Town make each quarter and the surrounding area to be discovered. For example, Century City is a commercial and residential area known for the Canal Walk Shopping Centre with over 400 stores. Athlone suburb is also called Cape flats, which is the symbol of the apartheid regime. Moreover, Constantia suburb is well known as the wine valley.

Virgin Active is a chain of about 60 health clubs located over the whole South African land, many of them in Western Cape. With the big number of dressing rooms and bathrooms requiring fresh water, Virgin Active Gyms can be compared to an industrial consumer. The water crisis that occurred in the early 2018 made serious troubles in the Western Cape, for this reason Virgin Active decided to invest in better water technologies. The water saving project was applied in more than 30 clubs, all of them choosing and installing DAB pumps. Among the list of products used for water treatment in the gym, we list:

- 32 Booster sets of 2 x KVC driven by Active Driver 60/120, essential for providing the correct constant pressure to sinks and showers, resulting in a better comfort, power saving and water saving.

- 8 Aquajet 82M, the all in one booster system, a ready to use solution which eliminates any installation duty.

- 15 KPF 30/16 M, the small but powerful peripheral pump, very reliable in performing its duty.

- 30 Feka VS 550 M to move grey water from sumps of bathrooms and showers to tanks with filtration system, in order to re-use the water in toilets again.

Further the good quality and efficiency of DAB products, the customer appreciated the completeness of DAB catalogue and the friendly relationship the DAB distributor was able to establish.

Considerando il consumo giornaliero di acqua negli spogliatoi e nei bagni delle palestre, Virgin Active può essere considerata alla stregua di un’industria.

La crisi idrica che ha colpito il Sudafrica all’inizio del 2018 ha creato diversi problemi nel Western Cape, per questa ragione è stato deciso di investire in tecnologie che consentono un miglior uso delle risorse idriche.

Il progetto di salvaguardia idrica è stato attuato in più di 30 palestre, dove sono state scelte e installate pompe DAB.

La lista di prodotti usati per il trattamento dell’acqua nelle palestre è:

• 15 KPF 30/16 M, le piccole ma efficaci pompe periferiche, a prestazioni affidabili.


• 30 Feka VS 550 M, utilizzate per muovere le acque grigie provenienti dagli scarichi dei bagni e delle docce fino alle vasche di raccolta con sistema di filtrazione, allo scopo di riutilizzare nuovamente l’acqua nei bagni.
