THE REQUEST

The young Akhuwat University is known for being the first University in Pakistan which allows worthy and brilliant students to follow their passion for education and learning without asking them to pay for this right. One of their mottos is, indeed, ‘EARN AND GIVE. LEARN AND TEACH.’

DAB Pumps has made its contribution to this relevant project by providing high quality pumps for pressurization and sewage. Specifically, the products were 6 x KDN 65-250 with cast iron impeller (250 mm diameter), 2 x FKC 65 (2.2 kW), 2 x FKC 65 (3.0 kW), 2 x FEKA 2030 (2.2 kW).

A university building is a high-demanding structure in terms of water-moving, comparable to an industry, superior than hotels or commercial centres. Hundreds of students live in the building at the same time, and a big number of bathrooms contemporary give fresh water to the taps and drain waste water to collection tanks.

DAB Pumps centrifugal standardised pumps KDN type were chosen as a booster system for their peculiarity to provide big flow. They are normalised pumps, this means motor and hydraulic are separated, and connected by a spacer junction. This makes the maintenance and the replacement easier in case of necessity. Normalised pumps are strongly suggested in public installations, where using standard components is a must. Even being standardised, KDN pumps are different because of their higher efficiency and reliability compared to other similar pumps.

We can say the same for the new FK sewage pump, one of the last product developed by DAB Pumps, and one of the best in the market. IE3 high efficiency electric motor, single cartridge mechanical seal, oil chamber with a second mechanical seal, moisture sensor, thermal protection, anti-clogging vortex impeller, installation kit, adaptability for retrofit, full range of accessories – all of these characteristics make FK an obvious choice when dealing with sewage in the range between 1.1 kW to 11 kW.

Thanks to a good and strict collaboration with the sales agent Metron International, based in the near city of Lahore, and with the contractor Qayyum Associates, providing legal representation, documentation and consultancy services, the project was a great success. Here, we do not only mean technologic and equipment success, but it’s a humanitarian success. This university can be a new step of a progressive change, until the right to education is guaranteed worldwide.

La giovane Akhuwat University è conosciuta per essere la prima Università del Pakistan a permettere agli studenti più meritevoli e brillanti di seguire la propria passione e di studiare senza dover pagare per questo diritto. Uno dei motti dell’istituzione è, infatti, ‘GUADAGNA E DAI. IMPARA E INSEGNA.’

DAB Pumps ha contribuito a questo importante progetto con le sue pompe di pressurizzazione e drenaggio di alta qualità; nello specifico, i prodotti forniti sono 6 pompe centrifughe normalizzate KDN 65-250 con girante in ghisa (250 mm di diametro), 2 x FKC 65 (2.2 kW), 2 x FKC (3.0 kW), 2 x FEKA 2030 (2.2 kW).

Un edificio universitario è una struttura esigente in termini di movimentazione acqua, paragonabile ad una industria, sicuramente superiore ad un hotel o ad un centro commerciale. Centinaia di studenti abitano l’edificio contemporaneamente, e un gran numero di bagni deve fornire acqua pulita ai rubinetti e drenare l’acqua di scarico nelle vasche di raccolta.

Le pompe normalizzate KDN di DAB Pumps sono state scelte per la loro capacità di elaborare tanta portata. Normalizzate significa con albero motore disgiunto dall’albero della parte idraulica, collegati tramite giunto spaziatore che favorisce gli interventi di smontaggio e manutenzione. Questo tipo di pompa è fortemente consigliato in installazioni pubbliche, dove la standardizzazione delle componenti e la reperibilità sul mercato sono di primaria importanza. Pur essendo standardizzata, la pompa KDN si distingue per la sua maggiore efficienza ed affidabilità, qualità garantite dal marchio DAB.

Si può dire lo stesso per la pompa da svuotamento FK, uno degli ultimi prodotti sviluppati da DAB e uno dei migliori nel mercato. Motore elettrico IE3 ad alta efficienza, tenuta meccanica a cartuccia, camera d’olio a protezione della seconda tenuta, sensore di umidità, protezione termica, girante vortex anti-intasamento, kit d’installazione, adattabilità per retrofit, pacchetto completo di accessori – tutte queste caratteristiche rendono FK la scelta migliore nel range di potenza che spazia da 1.1 kW a 11 kW.

Grazie ad una stretta collaborazione con l’agenzia di vendita Metron International, basata nella vicina città di Lahore, e con il contraente Qayyum Associates, che ha fornito rappresentanza legale, documentazione e consulenza, il progetto è stato un grande successo. Non solo un successo tecnologico o di fornitura, ma un successo umanitario. Questa università è un altro nuovo passo per un cambiamento progressivo, affinché l’educazione possa essere estesa a tutti.

THE REQUEST

In northern Münsterland, Steinfurt, the 3,800 m2 newly designed headquarter of the company ‘reha team Perick’ has been completed. With a branch office in Greven and more than 40 employees, the Sanitätshaus Perick is a new lighthouse for medical and rehabilitation technology as well as homecare; the head office in Steinfurt provides excellent organization and logistics services and a wide range of products.

The realization of this architecturally successful new building was based on the innovative hydraulic concept of the thermal cycle. Such concept was developed by the engineering office TGA, with the following results: the heating circuits are connected, following their temperature level, via 5-way mixers, so that the returns of the warmer heating circuits are mixed into the headers of the colder heating circuits. Thus, the volume flow through the heat generator can be reduced and supplied with the lowest possible return temperature. The result is a huge energy saving compared to traditional systems.

The SHK enterprise, based in Steinfurt, installed such complex system under the project management of Herr Böcker. Both the planners, SHK craftsmen and wholesaler Kurt Pietsch from Ahaus - leader in plumbing, heating, air conditioning and ventilation - and the builder Perick were more than satisfied with the use of such hydraulic concept, which included the DAB hot water circulators Evoplus.

Four Evoplus 60/180M and 40/180M and a larger Evoplus B120/220 32M were integrated in some critical points in the system, with the aim of reducing energy consumption while, at the same time, offering the best possible operability and long-term safety and efficiency. These Evoplus models were chosen specifically for their high quality, their differentiated range and their 70% energy savings in accordance with the European ErP (Energy related Products) Directive Regulations (2015). Of course, these pumps offer intelligent control for minimal noise, reduction in the circulation rate and a thermal protection coating which add considerable value to the product quality and to the project itself.

Nel nord di Münsterland, a Steinfurt, è stato completato il quartier generale dell’azienda ‘reha team Perick’, con i suoi 3.800 m2 di nuovissimo design. Con la sua filiale a Greven e più di 40 impiegati, la Sanitätshaus Perick è un nuovo faro per la tecnologia medica e riabilitativa e per i suoi eccellenti prodotti di sanitaria; l’ufficio centrale, di base a Steinfurt, fornisce servizi logistici e organizzazione eccellenti, insieme ad un’ampia gamma di prodotti.

La realizzazione di questo edificio dall’architettura di successo è basata sull’innovativo concetto idraulico del ciclo termico. Tale concetto è stato sviluppato dallo studio di ingegneria TGA, e i risultati sono sorprendenti: i circuiti di riscaldamento sono collegati tramite delle valvole mixer a 5 vie, a seconda del livello di temperatura corrispondente; in questo modo, i ritorni dei circuiti di riscaldamento più caldi sono mescolati con le mandate dei circuiti di riscaldamento più freddi. Si ottiene una temperatura media più equilibrata e c’è molto meno lavoro richiesto al bruciatore, con la massimizzazione della condensazione in caldaia grazie ad una temperatura di ritorno omogeneamente più fredda.

La compagnia SHK, di base a Steinfurt, ha voluto installare un sistema tanto complesso sotto l’occhio esperto di Herr Böcker. Tutti, dai progettisti agli artigiani di SHK, dal costruttore Perick fino al grossista Kurt Pietsch della Ahaus – azienda leader in idraulica, condizionamento e ventilazione, si sono detti soddisfatti dell’utilizzo di tale concetto idraulico, di cui fa parte anche il circolatore di acqua calda Evoplus di DAB.

Quattro Evoplus 6 /180M and 40/180M e un Evoplus più grande B120/220 32M sono stati posizionati in alcuni punti strategici del sistema, con lo scopo di ridurre il consumo di energia e, allo stesso tempo, offrire sicurezza ed efficienza a lungo termine. I modelli Evoplus sono stati scelti specificatamente per la loro alta qualità, la loro ampia gamma e il loro 70% di risparmio d’energia (Regolamento Direttivo Europeo 2015 in materia di ERP - Energy Related Products). È chiaro che queste pompe offrono un controllo intelligente che minimizza il consumo con una riduzione della portata in base alle esigenze: il tutto è un valore aggiunto non solo del prodotto, ma anche del progetto in sé.

THE REQUEST

The 5-floor and 5-star Respina Hotel has been built in an area of 15,000 m2; situated in the heart of Iranian green tea fields, it offers a fantastic view of beautiful Lahijan to its tourists and guests.

In order to make the Hotel as perfect as it is, two prestigious Iranian companies have cooperated in the project of optimizing the construction of the main fountain, the swimming pool and the SPA area:

• the Arian Estakhr Co enterprise, which is an executive designers and constructors company, provided engineering calculations, all required materials and installation service support.
• the Spico LTD enterprise, supplier of goods and services and DAB’s exclusive business partner in Iran, provided the latest technological pool pumps EUROSWIM.

The massive project was about re-vamping all the pool attractions of the hotel with new equipment, to be used for the outdoor majestic fountain, the indoor swimming pools, the luxury saunas, and, last but not least, the warm SPA and hot tubs. Even so different, all these applications require high flow pumps which can deal with aggressive water, due to chlorine and chemical additives dissolved in the water to keep it clean and healthy.

The choice for all of them was only one: Euroswim. This pump is distinguished by the higher efficiency and the low power consumption: in the pool application pumps run 24 hour/7 days, the obtained energy saving can be huge. Euroswim is the most silent among constant speed pool pumps, and thanks to the high capacity inlet filter, the bayonet lid, the flanged fittings, it is very simple to install and to maintain.

10 Euroswim were chosen in the range between 0.5 HP to 3 HP. The pumps were installed in a clean technical room, leaving enough space for access and inspections. The pumps work in positive suction head position, and ball valves are placed both in the suction both in the delivery pipeline. The pipeline is good in the diameter, and elbows are placed at the right distance from the pump. Finally, thanks to the particular layout of pipes and valves, back-up function has been guaranteed to most of the pumps, to avoid any risk of downtime.

Well done Arian Estakhr! The chosen layout and the high technology Euroswim pumps represent the state of art of an efficient and performant installation!

Situato nel cuore dei campi di tè verde caratteristici della zona, il 5 stelle Respina Hotel è, per i suoi ospiti, una vera e propria finestra da sogno sulla bella Lahijan. Con i suoi cinque piani e le sue 20 residenze in un’area di 15.000 m2, l’hotel ha collaborato, all’inizio dell’anno 2016, con due rinomate aziende iraniane, nel progetto di ottimizzazione e costruzione della fontana principale, della piscina e dell'area SPA:

• Arian Estakhr Company, società di progettazione e costruzione, che ha contribuito ai calcoli ingegneristici relativi al progetto, alla scelta dei materiali necessari ed al supporto post-vendita.
• Spico LTD, fornitrice di beni e servizi e partner esclusivo di DAB in Iran, che ha promosso la scelta della pompa EUROSWIM.

L’imponente progetto riguardava la modernizzazione di tutti gli impianti ad acqua dell’hotel scegliendo un equipaggiamento moderno e performante. Tra gli impianti interessati, la maestosa fontana esterna di nuova costruzione, le piscine coperte al piano terra dell’hotel, i lussuosi bagni turchi e saune, le calde vasche idromassaggio. Pur essendo applicazioni così diverse, tutte queste utenze richiedono una pompa di grande portata (per la movimentazione dell’acqua) che possa resistere ad un’acqua molto aggressiva, per via del cloro e di altri agenti chimici in essa disciolti per mantenerla pulita e sanificata.

Per tutte queste applicazioni la scelta è stata sempre e solo una: Euroswim. Questa pompa si distingue per la maggior rendimento idraulico e quindi un minor consumo elettrico. Nelle piscine, la pompa solitamente lavora 24 ore su 24 e 7 giorni su 7, per cui, con una efficienza superiore, il risparmio energetico ed economico ottenibile è davvero grande. Euroswim è anche la pompa più silenziosa nel mercato tra quelle a velocità costante, e, grazie alla grande capacità del filtro in ingresso, al coperchio trasparente con attacco a baionetta, ai bocchettoni flangiati già inclusi nel prodotto, si rivela facile da installare e da manutenere.

Sono state installate 10 Euroswim con potenza nel range tra 0.5 Cv e 3.0 Cv. Il locale tecnico è ampio e pulito, e lascia sufficiente spazio per l’accesso e le ispezioni. Le pompe lavorano sotto battente, valvole a sfera sono state installate sia sul tubo di aspirazione che sul tubo di mandata. Il diametro della tubazione è corretto, i gomiti sono stati disposti ad una giusta distanza dalla pompa. Infine, grazie alla avveduta disposizione di tubi e valvole, è stata garantita la funzione di back-up per la maggior parte delle pompe, riducendo al minimo il rischio di fermo impianto.

Ben fatto Arian Estakhr! La scelta del layout e delle tecnologiche e innovative Euroswim rappresentano la regola d’arte di una installazione efficace ed affidabile!

THE REQUEST

The hospital of Fontainebleau is an active structure composed of several ancient buildings: the activity started in the 12th century, as a charity organization giving succour to needy people, then it has extended along the years. In the last century, new buildings have been added (Pavillon Philardeau 1901, Pavillon Matry et Maison de Retraite in 1935, Pavillon Costrejean in 1969, Plateau Technique in 1981, Pavillon Mère-Enfant in 1991) and older buildings are renovated or extended.

The target of this continuous improvement (still ongoing) is to increase the level of performance of the activity and to ensure an adequate level of safety to the environment. The APSAD norm is the fire-fighting standard used in France. This certification attests the security and the quality of firefighting systems in France, prescribing the technical features and their operating specifications.

In the product range of DAB Pumps, there is a specific selection of firefighting systems that comply the APSAD norm requirements: specifically, 2K booster set or 2xNKP-G booster set are the valuable solutions for French market. In February 2017 DAB has increased its APSAD firefighting systems range with the CPI control panel. In fact, since a couple of years, the normative APSAD has been updated: for the most elevated hazard classes and/or for public structures, it is recommended to install an electric control panel on the firefighting systems with Control for Permanent Isolation (C.P.I.). This control constantly assures the APSAD group electrical connections are adequately isolated by earth connection. It is an essential commitment to fulfil, in order to safeguard the consumers from every type of risk and to prevent the breakdowns that could jeopardize the continuity of service.

In the Fontainebleau Hospital, two firefighting systems 2NKP-G 32-160.1/166 3 T 400/50 CPI APSAD have been installed to substitute two old APSAD systems. Each group has two NKP-G pumps with Power = 3 kW each. The control panel is certified according to the APSAD E2 GJ 3 T CPI regulations.

L’ospedale di Fontainebleau è una struttura molto attiva, composta di numerosi edifici, alcuni dei quali molto antichi. Infatti, l’attività nacque come struttura di carità per i poveri nel dodicesimo secolo, per poi estendersi e strutturarsi nel corso degli anni. Negli ultimi cento anni, molti padiglioni sono stati aggiunti (Pavillon Philardeau 1901, Pavillon Matry et Maison de Retraite in 1935, Pavillon Costrejean in 1969, Plateau Technique in 1981, Pavillon Mère-Enfant in 1991) mentre gli edifici più vecchi sono stati ampliati e restaurati.

L’obiettivo di questo miglioramento continuo nel tempo (ancora in evoluzione) è quello di aumentare il livello di servizio, garantire l’efficienza dell’attività e assicurare un adeguato livello di sicurezza agli ambienti. La normativa APSAD è lo standard antincendio che si utilizza in Francia, che definisce e specifiche tecniche e operative di tutte le parti dell’impianto.

DAB Pumps ha nella sua gamma prodotti una particolare selezione di gruppi antincendio che rispettano la normativa francese APSAD, in particolare i gruppi di pressione composti da due pompe di tipo K e i gruppi di pressione composti da due pompe normalizzate di tipo NKP-G. Su richiesta del cliente Jetly, da febbraio 2017 DAB ha ampliato il ventaglio delle soluzioni antincendio a normativa APSAD inserendo l’opzione del quadro elettrico con CPI. Infatti, da un paio d’anni, la normativa APSAD è stata aggiornata, e per le classi di pericolo più elevate e/o per le strutture pubbliche è consigliato installare un impianto antincendio con quadro elettrico con Controllo Permanente dell’Isolamento (C.P.I.). Tale controllo assicura costantemente che l’impianto elettrico del gruppo APSAD sia adeguatamente isolato da terra. È una caratteristica ritenuta di primaria importanza, per salvaguardare gli utenti da ogni tipo di rischio e prevenire i guasti che possono compromettere la continuità di servizio.

I 2 gruppi antincendio 2NKP-G 32-160.1/166 3 T 400/50 CPI APSAD sono stati installati in sostituzione di 2 vecchi gruppi antincendio APSAD. Entrambi i gruppi hanno 2 pompe NKP-G con Potenza = 3 kW ciascuna. Il quadro di controllo è un quadro a normativa APSAD E2 GJ 3 T CPI.
