THE REQUEST

In 2001 Bulgari formed a joint venture with the Luxury Division of Marriott International, to launch Bulgari Hotels & Resorts around the world. They started with three structures at first (Milan in 2004, Bali in 2006 and London in 2012), then Beijing (2017), Dubai (2017) and Shanghai (2018) were added. Moscow, Paris and Tokyo will be the next ones.

The Bulgari Hotel Resort in Bali-Uluwatu has everything a customer could wish for: first of all, a sophisticated contemporary design which results in a marriage between traditional Balinese forms and elegant Italian style; second, an intimate and peaceful atmosphere and impeccable high-quality service. Last but not least, a dreamlike natural landscape. One night in the mansions costs approximately $ 1,000, but just one dive into their infinity pools makes it worth it.

In a huge private area of gardens and villas, there are about 90 different swimming-pool and fountain installations, each requiring the service of several pool pumps, for keeping the water clean and clear. In total, there are more than 200 pumps, and the energy consumption is huge, along with the maintenance duty. The service manager of the resort evaluated attentively possibility to improve the installation and reduce the running cost.

Thanks to Eka Sudarmaya CR7, a sales engineer of CV Permata Pompa, the DAB Pumps Balinese business partner, the manager of Bulgari was convinced to give a chance to the Euroswim pump. After one-year trial of one pump only, the service manager was monitoring the behaviour and characteristics of the pump, registering a higher efficiency of the pump, a lower energy consumption, and a more silent operation. The collected data were good enough to convince the Service Manager to revamp most of the swimming pool filtration systems with the performant Euroswim.

A big supply of 92 Euroswim pumps and a series of sand filters made by DAB were provided to Bulgari Hotel, and all were installed in technical rooms placed exactly under the pool, with pumps working in positive suction head. The installation is perfect, in accordance to good practice rules. Euroswim was also much appreciated for its easy installation and serviceability.

Euroswim are now running 24 hours, 7 days, throughout the whole year, since in Bali it’s always summer. Reliability is also very high, and so far, not any issue has occurred. The customer is very satisfied, and more Euroswim are yet to be ordered, for installing in more swimming pools.

THE REQUEST

The Tejaprana Bisma Hotel is a hidden gem in Bali. Situated 39 km far from the Ngurah Rai International Airport, it offers its lucky guests the chance to relax by an elegant outdoor swimming pool; you can also enjoy a healthy breakfast with continental, American and Asian plates, and roam in the countryside with free bikes. This resort is so devoted to its customers that it has chosen DAB’s excellency product E.sybox for its water boosting systems.

The E.sybox booster system provides drinkable water to many villas and cottages: in each of them, there may be a shower and a bath tub, a toilet, one or two bathroom sinks and one basin in the kitchenette. The water demand can be huge if all the users ask for fresh water at the same time, but luckily this event is not common. Most of the times, not all the villas are occupied, only few taps are open, but a peak of request is detected in the evening (before bed time) or in the early morning.

To face the variability of the water demand, a variable speed pump is necessary, to adapt the flow and pressure to the user need. This is the main reason to choose E.sybox: embedded in the box, there is a complete booster system with VFD (Variable Frequency Driver), electronic board, sensors and pressure tank, for a plug & play solution ready to use. E.sybox provides constant pressure (set point adjustable from 1 to 6 bar) and variable flow (from 0 to 6 m3/h).

Four E.sybox are installed in a booster set (max flow is then 25 m3/h), all of them working alternatively or simultaneously according to water demand from users. The rotation and duty-standby cycles of pumps are managed automatically by the electronic intelligence of each system and the wireless communication between them. This solution gives many advantages: modularity, precision, efficiency, energy saving (when the request is low, only one pump is working), back-up (if one pump is down, the other ones compensate), longer lifetime (pumps are never stressed).

The installation of the four pumps is above water surface: the water reservoir is underground, so self-priming pumps must be used. E.sybox is a self-priming pump, it is able to suck water from below up to 6-8 meters. The beautiful cosmetic of E.sybox pump is also an added value: the green box perfectly matches the green landscape of Balinese forests, and a nice installation is always appreciated.

L’Hotel Tejaprana Bisma Hotel è una gemma nascosta e preziosa di Bali. Il gruppo di pressione centralizzato deve fornire acqua potabile a tutte le villette del resort: in ognuna di esse ci sono una doccia, una vasca da bagno, un WC, uno o due lavandini del bagno e un lavabo nell’angolo cottura. La domanda d’acqua sarebbe enorme se tutti gli ospiti utilizzassero tutte le utenze nello stesso momento, ma fortunatamente questo non succede mai. Vengono considerate per il dimensionamento le statistiche di consumo dell’acqua, dove si vede che solo pochi rubinetti vengono aperti contemporaneamente, e un picco di richiesta si registra soltanto alla sera e la mattina presto.

Per affrontare questa variabilità della domanda d’acqua è necessaria una pompa ad inverter: E.sybox è la scelta migliore, perché integra l’inverter in una soluzione compatta e completa, con tutti i sensori a bordo, la scheda elettronica e il vaso di espansione già inclusi. THE REQUEST

Liuyang Weimei High School is a new private full-time general high school, approved by the Liuyang Municipal People's Government. It is committed to become a high school with high starting point, high standards and high quality. The school has 260 staff members and can accommodate 60 classes and 3,000 students.

The construction project is located at the Liuyang Avenue, Guankou Industrial Zone, Liuyang City, opposite to the Guankou Health Centre diagonally. The total investment for the whole structure of the school was 300 million yuan. The construction area covers 130 MU of land (nearly 86,000 square meters).

The Changsha Runzhi Environmental Engineering is a renowned 2013 enterprise which works in the field of water technology, taking particular care of environmental protection. This enterprise has already worked with DAB on several projects: the latest and worthy result of this collaboration is the heating system provided for the Weimei High School project in Liuyang.

The heating system is made of 760 high efficiency flat plate collectors installed in the roof, catching the solar radiation for producing hot water. This system is eco-friendly, as per Chinese government request to adopt the most advanced technologies for highest energy saving and low environmental impact. There are 35 additional last generation air source heat pumps, for auxiliary heating during winter and for cooling during summer.

This equipment produces hot water, then pressurization pumps move the water throughout the school, in a complex system of pipelines, valves and radiators. The pumps must be higher efficiency, with superior performance and reliability. The partner Changsha Runzhi Environmental Engineering chose once again special purpose designed pumps by DAB (K model), because they meet the requirements and the specifications. These pumps are in-line shaped, to ease the installation and the maintenance. They perform hot water recirculation, with special components (mechanical seal, impeller, O-rings) for high temperature operation.

LA RICHIESTA

La nuova struttura della scuola superiore Weimei è stata il risultato concreto di un importante progetto, concesso e finanziato dalle autorità municipali della città di Liuyang. L’obiettivo era quello di creare una sede di alta tecnologia e modernità, con standard qualitativi elevati sia nell’accoglienza degli studenti che nell’istruzione. La scuola ospita 260 dipendenti, 60 classi di alunni e circa 3000 studenti. Il progetto è nella strada Liuyang Avenue, nella zona industriale di Guankou, di fronte al centro ospedaliero Guankou Health Centre. L’investimento totale è stato di 300 milioni di yuan (circa 40 milioni di €uro), l’intera area copre 86 mila metri quadri di terreno.

La Changsha Runzhi Environmental Engineering, nata nel 2013, è un’azienda rinomata operante nel campo della tecnologia per la movimentazione dell’acqua, con particolare attenzione al rispetto dell’ambiente e alla sua protezione. Il frutto della sua attiva collaborazione con DAB si riscontra in questo progetto, in particolare nella realizzazione degli impianti di riscaldamento, raffrescamento e pressurizzazione.

Il sistema di riscaldamento è composto da ben 760 pannelli solari installati sul tetto dell’edificio, che utilizzano l’energia solare per scaldare l’acqua. Il governo cinese ha infatti imposto per gli edifici pubblici l’utilizzo di tecnologie avanzate ed ecologiche, che garantiscano il basso impatto ambientale e il risparmio energetico. Oltre ai pannelli solari, ci sono anche 35 unità a pompa di calore di nuova generazione, che funzionano per il riscaldamento invernale (quando è richiesto un extra lavoro) e per il condizionamento estivo.

Questi grossi impianti producono un grande volume di acqua calda (o fredda), poi sono necessarie pompe di pressurizzazione per circolare quest’acqua in un intricato sistema di tubazioni, valvole e radiatori. Queste pompe devono essere di efficienza superiore, con alte prestazioni ed affidabilità. Il partner Changsha Runzhi Environmental Engineering ha scelto ancora una volta le pompe DAB di tipo K (progettate apposta per il mercato cinese, dato che devono soddisfare diversi requisiti locali). Queste pompe sono dette “pompe in linea” perché hanno l’aspirazione e la mandata allineate, per facilitarne l’installazione in un circuito chiuso. Lavorando con acqua ad alta temperatura, sono state modificate alcune componenti (tenuta meccanica, o-ring, girante) per renderle resistenti a queste condizioni estreme.
